Statement from the New Hampshire Judicial Branch regarding the death of retired Superior Court Judge Arthur E. Bean, Jr.

CONCORD, N.H. – The New Hampshire Judicial Branch issued the following statement regarding the death of retired Superior Court Judge Arthur E. Bean, Jr.:

“The Judicial Branch expresses its deep sadness upon the death of Judge Bean. He is remembered as a valued colleague and highly respected member of the bench and the bar. Even upon his mandatory retirement as a judge at age 70, he continued his career with the courts as the first retired judge to act as a mediator.

Judge Bean’s optimistic and positive approach in life served him well in his capacity as a colonel in the United States Air Force, as an assistant attorney general of New Hampshire, and as an admired and respected judge.  We honor his lifelong service to this country and to the people of the State of New Hampshire.”

Of his long-time associate, Supreme Court Justice Gary E. Hicks adds, “We have lost a treasured jurist and dear friend.”
