Strafford County Family Divisions

Strafford County has two family divisions in three court locations. Please note the jurisdiction covered by each location below: 

  1. 7th Circuit - Family Division - Dover
  2. 7th Circuit - Family Division - Rochester at Strafford County Building
  3. 7th Circuit - Family Division - Rochester

Jurisdiction: Cities of Dover and Somersworth, and towns of Durham, Rollinsford, Lee, and Madbury 

Directions 

From the South: Take Route 95N to the Spaulding Turnpike/Route 16N. Take 16N to NH-108S/Central Avenue in Dover. Take Exit 7. Turn left onto Locust Street. Go about a half mile to the fork in the road and bear left onto Walnut Street. Take immediate left onto St. Thomas Street. The Courthouse is on the right and there is parking in front.

From the North: Take Interstate 93 South to Exit 15E. Take Route 4 East to Route 155, take ramp toward Lee/Dover. Continue to follow Route 155 (also known at Knox Marsh Road/Route9) for approximately 6 miles. Turn left onto Locust Street. Go about a half mile to the fork in the road and bear left onto Walnut Street. Take immediate left onto St. Thomas Street. The Courthouse is on the right and there is parking in front. 

From Rochester: Take the Spaulding Turnpike South/16S. Go to Exit 8E and go towards Dover/Downtown. Turn left onto Locust Street. Go about a half mile to the fork in the road and bear left onto Walnut Street. Take immediate left onto St. Thomas Street. The Courthouse is on the right and there is parking in front.

Jurisdiction: Divorce matters originating in the City of Rochester and the towns of Barrington, Milton, New Durham, Farmington, Strafford, and Middleton. 

Directions

From downtown Dover: Take Sixth Street North past Liberty Mutual. Take a left onto County Farm Road. The courthouse is approximately 1 mile down the road on the right, in an open field. 

From Somersworth: Take High Street/Route 9 towards Dover. Travel through Weeks' Crossing and over Spaulding Turnpike towards Sixth Street. Take a right onto Sixth Street. Travel on Sixth Street for approximately 1 mile. Take a left onto County Farm Road. The courthouse is approximately 1 mile down the road on the right, in an open field. 

From points north: Take Route 16/Spaulding Turnpike South, through tollbooth in Rochester to Exit 9 (Dover/Somersworth). At stoplight at the end of the ramp take a left onto Sixth Street Extension. At next light take a right onto Sixth Street. Travel on Sixth Street for approximately 1 mile. Take a left onto County Farm Road. The courthouse is approximately 1 mile down the road on the right, in an open field. 

From Maine or Massachusetts: Take Interstate 95 towards Portsmouth, and exit onto the Spaulding Turnpike. Travel North on Spaulding Turnpike through Dover tollbooth to Exit 9 (Dover/Somersworth). On exit ramp, bear left to a stoplight. Turn left at light onto Sixth Street Extension. Travel over the highway and through another stoplight. At next light turn right onto Sixth Street. (There are signs along the way directing you to the courthouse). Travel on Sixth Street for approximately 1 mile. Take a left onto County Farm Road. The courthouse is approximately 1 mile down the road on the right, in an open field. 

From Concord: Take Route 4 East. At stoplight in Northwood, take a left onto Route 202/Route 9. Stay on Route 9 (Route 202 splits off towards Rochester) for approximately 9 miles to a stoplight in Barrington near Calef's General Store. Travel through the stoplight and continue on Route 9 until you reach the intersection with Route 155 in Dover. At the light take a left. Get on the Spaulding Turnpike North. Take Exit 9 (Dover/Somersworth). Bear left on exit ramp to a stoplight. Turn left at light onto Sixth Street Extension. Travel over the highway and through another stoplight. At next light, turn right onto Sixth Street. (There are signs along the way directing you to the courthouse). Travel on Sixth Street for approximately 1 mile then take a left onto County Farm Road. The courthouse is approximately 1 mile down the road on the right, in an open field. Shortcut from Concord (will save you 5-10 minutes): From stoplight near Calef's in Barrington, continue on Route 9 for another 3 miles. Take a left after Madbury Reservoir onto French Cross Road. At the end take a right onto Tolend Road. After approximately ½ mile, take a left onto Watson Road. At the end, take a left onto County Farm Road. Courthouse is approximately a mile down the road on the right, in an open field. 

From Manchester: Take Route 101 East. Take Exit 7 at Epping onto Route 125 North. From Route 125 look for a blinking yellow light at intersection with Route 155. Take a right onto Route 155. Stay on Route 155 through Lee (watch closely for route signs, since there are a few quirky turns) and Madbury and Dover. Eventually you will come to the Spaulding Turnpike, just after a stoplight at the intersection of Route 155 and Route 9. Get on the Spaulding Turnpike North. Take Exit 9 (Dover/Somersworth). On exit ramp bear left to a stoplight. Turn left at light onto Sixth Street Extension. Travel over the highway and through another stoplight. At the next light turn right onto Sixth Street. (There are signs along the way directing you to the courthouse)Travel on Sixth Street for approximately 1 mile the take a left onto County Farm Road. The Courthouse is approximately 1 mile down the road on the right, in an open field. 

From the west: Take the easiest route to Manchester or Concord and follow directions from there.

Jurisdiction: Adoptions, Juvenile Delinquency, CHINS, Abuse and Neglect, Termination of Parental Rights, Guardianship of Minors and Domestic Violence matters originating in the City of Rochester and the towns of Barrington Milton, New Durham, Farmington, Strafford, and Middleton.

Directions

From the north: Take Interstate 93 South to Route 393 East (in Concord). You will get to Route 4 after about 3 miles. Take Route 4 East to Northwood. In Northwood you’re going to take a left onto Route 202 East at a flashing light. Be careful to stay on Route 202. You will eventually go under a Spaulding Turnpike overpass. About a mile later Route 202 will end at a stop sign. At stop sign take a right and merge into traffic. Go a ¼ of a mile to lights and the Courthouse is on the corner of those lights.

From the south: Take Interstate 93 North to Route 101 East. Once on Route 101 East go until you reach Route 125 North. Follow Route 125 North to Rochester. Take the Spaulding Turnpike north to Exit 13 (Route 202). At the end of the ramp take a right. Follow to the end of the road. At stop sign take a right and merge into traffic. Go a ¼ of a mile to lights and the Courthouse is on the corner of those lights. 

From the south on Interstate 95: Head north on Interstate 95 (NH) and proceed towards Portsmouth. Use the left two lanes to take exit 4 to merge onto NH-16/US-4 W towards the White Mountains. Continue onto NH-16 N and take exit 13 for US 202 W toward Rochester/Concord. Turn right at bottom of ramp onto Washington Street. At stop sign take a right and merge into traffic. Go a ¼ of a mile to the lights and the Courthouse is on the corner of those lights.
